By the end of the week, Google will give the ability to call actual phones from Gmail.  Is this something that will catch on?  Does it seem like a good idea?  Do you think people will welcome a concept like calling phones from email and possibly video chatting or will they stick to calling the normal way?  Why or why not? (You must write 5 sentences or you will get ZERO CREDIT)

Yes, because I think that is a different way to stay in contact with our friends. Just like my-space I’m sure it will get popular, this seems really cool to go to a website and be able to see your friends. Plus video chatting is really fun i do it almost everyday:)

Yes it is something that will catch on because many phone companies call people’s phone all the time for things like this. Things like you could win new Nitendo Wii for entering this drawing contest. No this does not seem like a good idea. it will be better if people just called the regular way. I think most people will try the email phone calling first to see how they like it. If they don’t then they will just call phones the regular way.

Yes, Because I just Watched the video and it seems kinda interseting. And I think that they would want to stay in touch with friends.I would do google just to see how my friends look and how much they grow since I have not seen them in a while. But to me some people might want to use gmail because some people wants to talk on the phone and I will like to talk on the phone but i also would use google. It sounds pretty fun what they want to do know.

well i think for certain people it will stick for a few months because it would probably be difficult to talk to people through g-mail. and some people have really busy lives and dont want to spend all that time just to call some one when they can do that on there cell phone. but it might stick because some people dont have cell phones and can just call there parents from the computer ! 🙂

I think this might be something that will catch on because some people don’t really like calling from normal phone’s. I think this might not be a good idea because some people can spend hours in the computer talking to someone. I think that most of the persons will be calling through the email but some person’s prefer normal way. I think that they will go for the email because most people in the world like spending time in the internet end other sites. The rest of the person’s probably think that it’s better to be talking the normal way that they always use.

it will probably catch on because people are always looking for a new way to communicate. also, people like e-mail so being able to use as a phone is probably a step up. i guess it seems like a good idea. its probably a better idea for the video chat. as of now i don’t think people like calling the normal way. people like texting more than talking over the phone. the video chat on the other hand is probably a better idea because than you can see them, be on the computer, and talk at the same time.

oh yay they will use g mail and the normal way to call phones. When they make the calling on gmail alot of people are gonna use that because people that dont have phones so they will use computers. At the library its gonnna be packed probley because its free to get on the computers there and you can call people for free thats good. When ever they make the g mail thing everyone who has a phone will probley not do it , but they might to try it. It is not a bad idea really but phone companies mgiht go out of business but it might not be that bad.

I think people will actually like this. Someone could be talking to someone else but might want to see them too. So if you havent seen family for a long time you can see how each other has changed. And when online with this its the samething, people want to see each other. I think people will like this and use it alot.

I think that people will enjoy having the g-mail phone. I think people will enjoy this because it could be an easier way for some people to use this. Some people might not enjoy the g-mail phone because they just like doing stuff the simple way and using a regular phone. If i had a g-mail i think that i would probably enjoy it because its something that’s unusual. I think its a good idea because if people don’t have phones then they can just use there g-mail account.

Yes, it will help in a lot of ways and it is more in the future type concept. So it would b more fun and people will want to use it. Also people would probably go to video email chat because of the fact its from an email and that it could possibly be a way to contact friends you haven’t talked to in a while or family members. And it seems better if you are talking on a video chat cause you are actually talking face to face.

This will catch on pretty fast I think. The reason I think that is because like on facebook you can get updates and it will get strait to your phone so if that caught on then this will to. I mean it can go any way so but I think there going to end up using g-mail more. Because they say if you can’t kill it join it. But yea I think it’s going to catch on pretty quick.

Yes, i think that we should give them our number because it is a different way to stay in contact with your friends like my space ,yahoo, face book,or g-mail. It cool to talk to somebody on video because it like to someone face to face but just their face is in your computer. lol.:) but then again i think it their not going to change it because what if the video is messed up or certain computers could not be able to do it.

Yes because people don’t like to chat when on a computer screen and this is a really good chance to use this because if you don’t have a cellphone but your friend has a cell phone you can use this to call them without calling on your house phone

Wow That sounds so cool first off.
Second: If Google is able to make that possible Skye is out of business. Permanently.
I also think the people will most likely stick to the cellphone to cellphone thing. I mean it only depends on how Lazy you are or not.
I mean for the video chat you have to set it up and then you have to invite that person to video chat with you. If the person’s not online or has no Internet signal your not able to chat. 😦
Me i would rather like to call someone online to their phone because my cellphone won’t do long distance call’s for very long.(> ^_^oOo)># I have a waffle…

This would be a good idea. The reason I say that is why it can actually be easier than logging on and reading mail. When I think of it, people would use cell phones for it so they never have to use a computer to log in. They can do it on the go or at home for some reason. The video chat seems pretty coll without the junky webcams on your computer getting broke. One problem with that is that some people don’t have camera phones. This will encourage them to buy it and talk on google. It is a pretty good idea.

i think it might catch on but i think that there is a reason behind it like the website is just trying to become more popular because Bing and other searching websites have become more popular than Google but i think that money will go up and stuff like that and how everything will be not normal to me typing that person instead of you know doing that is way better i think it wont be right!! 😦 plus its just the same as calling there is really no point!

i think it will change the way it is so maybe you could put a list were only people can talk to you that you know. and video chatting is different. it can be dangerous people who you don’t know can text you. plus the calling is better cause u don’t have to use your fingers. all you have to do is talk thanks

I think its a good idea but may have a flaw. People would like to do this cause it may save them a home phone bill. But they will be using the computer more often which will be a big burden for them. People may like the idea of it but to me it seems useless because you have to go through loging into your email to use it. Another reason I think its useless is that so many people have cell phones which you can take on the go.

i think this is something that will catch on because of all the people that have skype and other video chating places, people will like to have gmail video calling and chating without having to use the house phone to call people and of all the popularity that these programs have with video calling i really believe that gmail video chating will get popular.plus it may be cheaper to call a phone from gmail instead of calling from att, verizon, insight, etc.
