ORQ Question

It has been proven through a recent study that teens text on average 3, 339 times per month.  This is only between 13 – 17 year olds and their talk time has went down by almost 11 hours per month.

A.)  Identify two different traditional ways of communicating with another person using technology before there were cellphones to text.

B.)  Explain why each method of communication you described in part (A) is no longer as popular to communicate with another person as texting.

C.)  Analyze how ANY new technologies we have talked about in class this year so far, can or will change how much people text each other.  Will it be more or less? Will it become more popular and replace talking on the phone alltogether or will something replace texting as the new best way to communicate?

(You MUST give me fully thought out sentences and use the A.C.T. method-no short answers or text message language.)

    A) before the phone and texting and all that people had computers and pagers.

    B) and pagers arent used no more because they cant call people and you cant type on it. and computers arent used because they cant be portable and you cant make phone calls on there.

    C) the stuff we have talked about in class will make texting easier and more people will do it. becuase they have keyboard and all that stuff now and voice activated calls and text too. and the ring phone will be very popular if people have the money for it and when it gets hot here. other people will want it and they will start to buy them and sell them at there store.

    A. There is pagers and there is and there E-mail.
    B. The pager aint because no one really knows what it is because i did not even know what it was and they probley wont know how to work it unless there old. And E-mail aint because people use facebook and mysspace to talk through the computers. Texting is way faster and way cooler the going to log on to the computer to text to someone and not having to lose the pager.
    C. The new cellphone will because it will be a lot more easier because there more advance then all the other cellphones.

A). one way is you can just talk on the phone before texting was on a phone, and using a house phone if you do not have one.

B). texting is more popular because you dont have to call and set on the phone doing nothing because like when people text they can keep what they do instead of stopping to do so just to answering a cell phone.

C). i dont think that it will replace because there will be more advance cell phones in life and better things that you cando on a phone.

a)one thing that they could have used is lykke computers, letters, many things could have been shipped around the world with boxes full of letters that one person could write and it would get to the person they wrote it to,and they could write back.
b)its not as popular as texting because when you text it is much faster. like when you go off and ship a letter you have to wait for it to reach the person yew are spending it tew and when you text you don’t have to wait hours because the text goes from your phone up to space in a satellite and then to the person your texting in lightning speed.its very fast and letters you have to take the time to write and then send then you have to wait for the other person to write and then send it back.
c)i thin that there isnt many things that can replace texting because teens and adults likke to text and show off their phones, but video chat maybe could because when you text it still tkes alittle more time but not as much as letters but video chat you can talk and you are able to see the person that you are tryig to communicate with as a resultt of textinq i like it and so do many other people idk maybe it might b replaced.

A). One way that people communicated with each other before texting was pagers or phones when they actually talked. People are not understanding that when you are talking it is alot faster then texting and also it will save u money cause you could get a regular phone instead of spending your money on keyboard phones.

B). The reason i think that technology has passed up they now have iphones from 1-4 so they are getting a little ahead of what they should be so pagers and talking on the phone has passed by about 5 years that is my reasoning.

C). Well i think that there will be a replacement of texting sooner or later think about it texting replaced talking now something is going to erase texting it will be as lame as talking on the phone. Like facebook it could become real popular if there is a new website that could take over that is what i think.

    A. Two different ways that people commu. back then before texting was:
    -Mailing letters
    -Just regular phone calls
    B. Well people don’t really call people and write letters. Now a days people say calling each other is lame. Phone calls are not used as they were before. Phone calls use to be the best things to commun. with. Now when you calls somebody first thing is people text after the call. Writing letters are not very used today unless youre in prison. No offense. That used to be a way to commun. back then.
    C. I think texting isn’t going to be stopped. Because the deal and texting plans now a days people buy them every day. People just buy phones just to text. Aspecially us kids. A. Before texting two ways to communicate were writing letters and talking on the phone.
B.Writing letters aren’t as popular for obvious reasons. It’s not as quick or as stylish as texting and talking on the phone. Talking on the phone is more popular than writing letters but not as popular as texting. I guess teens feel texting is quicker and it’s easier to multi-task when you are texting rather than talking on the phone.
C.I think that people will continue texting I know I still prefer texting. Probably, eventually texting will die down like the rest of the other ways to communicate. Who knows, maybe e-mailing would become more popular. Maybe there will be a whole new communication method altogether.

a.) two ways to talk with out texting was they out fashioned calling and dropping by house to see the other person.

b.) reason why these methods of communication are not as popular are because when u call that person might not be home. of they are busy and they cant answer. but if you where to text they might be able to text back right away of at some point you know they will get your memo. Reasons why just dropping by to see the person could be the distance apart from each other, and not enough time in your day to go. but to fix the problem you can use the same as before just to text or call.

c.) video chatting with a distance relative or friend is very popular, but i don’t thnk this will over come texting of just pain calling the person.

    A) BEFORE CELLPHONES THERE WERE PAGERS AND COMPUTERS.

    B) THOSE ARE NOT POPULAR ANYMORE BECAUSE OF THE IPHONES AND ALL THE OTHER TYPES OF PHONES THAT CAME OUT.

    C) WELL I THINK THE MORE TECHNOLOGY THEY COME OUT WITH THE MORE PEOPLE WILL KEEP TEXTING.

A.) Two ways to communicate before texting, were talking in person and email messaging.

B.) We have become more impatient with emails and such. So, instant messaging (used with texting) is more frequently used than emails. Although talking in person is still used, more people use cellphones and texting more than actually talking face-to-face.

C.)It depends. If there is more voice command-able technology in the future, then there will be less texting. If there are more types of technology with keyboards and text messaging things, then there will be more texting. I don’t think those things will replace talking altogether, but it may decrease the percent of people who actually go to meetings.

A.) Two different traditional ways of communicating with another person is to type letters on the computer and mail them and to use pagers

B.) I think its not as popular as texting because there are more and advanced technology to use to communicate other then pagers and letters. People would prefer texting over pagers and letters because it is more direct so you can communicate faster.

C.) I think nothing will cancel talking all together because some people like talking more then texting. And some of the technology will change how much people text because there is more advanced technology that more people will like to text with.

A-Two ways to communicate before texting,

    2-and email messaging.

B-reason why these methods of communication are not as popular are because when u call that person might not be home.but if you had a cellphone they can text you and then you can see what they say right a way instead of waiting tell you got home and like read your voice mail or see that you have a miss call.

C-video chatting with a distance relative or friend is very popular, but i dont think people will do that more than texting on your cellphone or talking on the phone with your house phone.

a)You could communicate with other by using a house phone and by letters.
    b) The reason communicating by phone could have hard is because you could get a busy signal. Letters take too long to write and get there.
    c) I think internet I.M.’s are a better way to talk to people.

    A. before the phone and texting and all that people had computers and pagers.

    B. and pagers aren’t used no more because they cant call people and you cant type on it. and computers aren’t used because they cant be portable and you cant make phone calls on there.

    C. the stuff we have talked about in class will make texting is easier and more people will do it. because they have keyboard and all that stuff now and voice activated calls and text too so it’s just awesome. and the ring phone will be very popular if people have the money for it and when it gets hot here. other people will want it and they will start to buy them and sell them at there own store.

    A) Two traditional ways of communication are email or just called before texting or cell phones.

    B) These are no longer used as much because i think people just think that its a little bit more funner. Or takes less time than email.

    C) Stuff in class that we have talked about may eventually over power texting. One because it is becoming more common to some people. And two because people tend to switch to newer stuff and get updated.
