[READ AND ANSWER EACH QUESTION AND WATCH THE VIDEOS BEFORE YOU ANSWER THE QUESTIONS OR YOU WILL GET ZERO CREDIT]

The latest big trend in gaming is portable gaming.  However, instead of people carrying a separate phone and gaming device like a PSP or DSi, people want it all on ONE device.  Is the iPhone or one of the new android phones the answer to this?  Sony says NO.  In 2011, Sony Erickson will introduce the Xperia Play or “Playstation Phone” with fully functioning Playstation like qualities and capable of playing many of the Sony Playstation games.

A)  Is this the answer to gaming on a cell phone?

B)  Do you think people would switch their current phones for this phone?  Why or why not?

C)  If you analyze the phone, is it more appealing than an iPhone or an android phone?

D)  Give me a comparison/contrast with what are some of the positives (pros) and negatives (cons) about this phone?  Explain your answers.

The New Sony PlayStation Phone

Video and Specs on the Sony Playstation Phone

Wednesday, January 26th, 2011

A war has been going on for your dollars for several years now from the video game companies.  Nintendo has been the King of the Hill as far as handheld portable gaming systems go with the gameboy and then the DS series.  Sony has battled them with the PSP and the very stylish but ill conceived -Go! series.  Nintendo is set to release the 3DS, a 3D handheld that DOES NOT require you to wear glasses in mid 2011. Sony is releasing the PSP2 with a hi-def screen and other crazy gadgets around March 2011.  Is this the final chance to dominate the market?  Should Sony surrender to Nintendo or keep fighting for the best handheld?  Is there any particular feature of either system that would make you or other people REALLY want these new game systems?  Explain your answers.

On October 22nd, 2010 Sony officially put an end to the Sony Walkman (Cassette Player).  Even though you are too young to remember, the Walkman was the iPod of it’s day.  First introduced in 1979,the Cassette Player was eventually killed off by the CD player in 1986 and THAT was killed off by the mp3 player or iPod in 2000.  Can you make an argument for why the CD player lasted 30 years?  If the iPod is the “IT” player for portable music right NOW, WHAT do you think could replace it as the must have device in the future?  Explain your answers.

As we search for more ways to add functionality to our lives, Google seems to be leading the charge at how to innovate and have enhancements added to your life that you didn’t even know you needed.  Enter Google Leanback.  Google Leanback is a fun and interesting way to search YouTube videos where it feels more like channel surfing on the TV by giving you a feed (pretty much a playlist).  Being fun on your computer is one thing, but if you have internet on your TV, then it takes this to a whole new level.  Sony just released the first TV’s that come with Google TV, including leanback.  Is this just lazy of people?  Is this a service that people want or will even use? What could be a benefit or drawback of a service like this? Explain your answer.

“iTunes has been the music central type of source for music, movie and app downloads for sometime now.  Sony and Google will both be starting a music download website before the year is out.  Do either of these companies have an advantage by starting a music download website now or will people stay with iTunes?  Can one website be a better website than another but another website be a better value?” (You MUST write 5 sentences or you will get ZERO CREDIT)
