Technology steadily progresses and once something comes out, it is usually outdated in 6 months. So everything technological is updated witha new model at least every year. The new iPods have come out. If your old iPod works just fine, why should you upgrade? What is the advantage the company has by putting out new models every year? Does the marketing (Ads in newspaper, magazine, radio, TV, internet) have anything to do with you changing your mind on buying a new one? Why or why not? I don’t think if your old ipod is working you should change it, the only changes are the look and how many GB are in it. So really its not much of a change. And i also don’t think that the marketing is a big problem either. If the prices of the ipods change its not by a big one.

You should probably upgrade because the old one might stop working for some reason. So I would upgrade. The advantage they have is that they can keep their customers or whatever with their products. Maybe but I don’t think so. If yours is working just fine then don’t upgrade. Unless you want to be kept up to date.

I don’t have an I pod but am getting one in a few more weeks but I think if you have an old one and there no problems with it why get a new one then it a waste of money and your time so why do it. If i had an old I pod and had no problems with it i would not get a new one but I will get more designs to get on it so it can look different. But that will be about it lol…

The graphics on the upgraded stuff are better. But i think that if there is nothing wrong with your old one, then your fine and you don’t need to upgrade. Some people upgrade just to upgrade. (Just to have something “higher” than there friends). Having upgraded stuff is nice to have for a while, but then in six months, the same thing is going to come out but its just going to be upgraded, and your going to want it just to have it.

I think that newspaper and the rest of the papers encourage you to buy a new ipod because if they see that there is no change in the market of course they are going to tell you to buy the new ipod. I think technology gets into the new stuff so people can go out and waste their money in stuff they all ready have just that it is in a different version. The reason they make new umodels knowing the old ones work is for money. Some people like the old ways. They don’t want to spend $300 on something that just came out earlier and then buy something for $350 when it just came out. It is not smart. The ads may add something new but later they are just going to make the same thing for the old ones.

I think that the marketing does have something to do with the people wanting to upgrade their ipods and other pieces of technology. I think this because these companies advertise these new models so well that it makes people want to upgrade. They make people think that the new versions are cooler.
